Paper Cutz Challenge #57

Hello! It's been a crazy couple of days around my house. I've had a sick daughter, a dentist appointment, a doctor's appointment, many paper projects to do for friends and family, plus my new duties as a member of the Paper Cutz Challenge Design Team. I'm a little late getting my blog post up and I'm sorry about that.
I'm very excited about this week's challenge! It was so much fun to do. For Challenge #57, you are to create a card, layout, or other craft project using 1 ribbon, 2 buttons, and three colors. Pick any theme that you wish! Mine was originally going to be a baby shower invitation for one of the projects I spoke about earlier. My baby sister, Jennifer, who is a nurse in Austin, Texas, is throwing a shower for a co-worker. I thought this would be the perfect combination-ribbon and buttons? You can't get more baby-themed than that! Then, I found out that the lady is not a fan of fussy, fancy stuff, so I decided to go more simple (I'll post those cards later). So, back to the drawing board I went! I decided on this card for my sick daughter who has been home from school for two days with a stomach bug. My daughter is 14 and a fashionista to the extreme! She LOVES shoes and LOVES zebra! She has about 11 different pair of zebra shoes-flip flops, high-tops, low-tops, ballet flats, heels, rainboots......you get my drift. So, she was my inspiration for this card.
Card recipe:
Cricut
Cricut Solutions Wedding Cartridge
Gypsy (optional)
Paper Studio "Safari Untamed" paper pack
white and black cardstock (from Walmart)
Nestabilities Labels die
buttons (from a pack in my stash)
random sheer red ribbon
Red jeweled brad (from my box of embellishments)

First of all, this is an A2 sized card (5 1/2x 4 1/4). I next cut out all of my shoes on my Cricut. I put all of this into my Gypsy so that I could cut it all at the same time and hide one of the cuts I didn't like, but this is not necessary. I cut the shoe from the Wedding Solutions cartridge. I think this is the prettiest high heel on any of the cartridges, so this is the one I tend to use. I cut it out of the black and white zebra at 3 inches. Then I cut out the blackout of the shoe with black cardstock at 3 inches as well. I glued it together and added the red jewel brad. For the small shoes on the inside they were all cut at 1 1/2 inches from the different colors of zebra and their blackouts were cut at 1 1/2 inches as well. As for what I hid on the Gypsy so that it would not cut, it was the slit on the top of the heel, right above the toe....I just didn't like the look of it, but you can leave it and it's no biggie! I printed out the sentiments on one piece of cardstock on my computer using a word document. I postioned them on the document, keeping in mind where I would be cutting. I cut the inside part with my trimmer and ran the card front through my Sizzix using a Nestabilities label. I added the red ribbon, zebra cardfront, two white buttons to the front and pop dotted the shoe to the front. I put in the card inside and arranged the shoes around the sentiment. If I were to do this card again, I would have flipped two of those shoes so that they would have been going in the opposite direction. Hope you enjoy the card and please come and join the challenge at Paper Cutz Challenge! I can't wait to see what awesome cards you'll come up with!
P.S. Edited to say that I am so sorry that you are seeing the photo of the inside of my card before the front of it in the photos! I couldn't figure out how to fix that! Still a little new to the blogging world, so still trying to figure out a few things.... Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!
