Throwback Thursday Challenge

I am really loving doing Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenges on My Creative Time! It really gets my creative juices flowing and gets me thinking of things that I normally wouldn't. Honestly, I had not used my Wild Card cartridge until now. When I started thinking about my favorite holidays, of course I thought of Christmas and Halloween, but what was foremost in my mind were birthdays. It's the one day that we get to have as our own special day. I always let my kiddos pick what they would like for me to cook them for dinner. When they were little, I loved planning their parties. The goodie bags, the decorations, everything.... One year the boys wanted Pokemon and, of course, we could not find that stuff anywhere, so I made EVERYTHING by hand!! So fun, but so time consuming. Of course, to me, there is nothing more special than a little one's very first birthday! What a sweet and wonderful time for celebration. My very precious friend, Amy, has a sweet baby girl named Elizabeth. She will be celebrating her first birthday in a couple of weeks and I said that I would love to help with the invitations. Amy has chosen a cupcake theme for the party, and the colors hot pink and lime green . What's not to love about that? I knew that I wanted to do the invitations like the flower pot cards that I've seen everywhere, but had not found a cupcake image that I was over the moon for, until I got out my Wild Card cartridge for this challenge.

I used the cupcake icon on page 61 of the handbook and designed the card on my Gypsy. I hid all of the cuts on the wrapper using the hide contour feature. I also used the real dial feature since I was cutting the icon. I cut the wrappers at 3.5 height and 5.0 width and the frosting at 3.0 height and 5.5 width. I used Recollections cardstock in South Beach. I embossed my frosting with Cuttlebug's D'vine Swirl and the wrapper with Spots and Dots. I used Diamond Stickles on the frosting and some Michael's ribbon on the wrapper. The candle is a Sizzix Originals die that I used Stickles on as well. The insert to the invitation was cut at 3x4.5 and glued to the frosting with a Zig pen. I think this turned out pretty cute and I hope Amy loves it!

My name is Lisa and I'm a Gypsy-aholic.....

Seriously, this is what I've been missing???? I am having the BEST time playing with my Gypsy. It's really got my creative juices flowing!! I made this card for Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge on Creative Time for Me. I absolutely LOVE her blog and I'm so glad to have found it. She has helped me so much with the Gypsy already! The challenge was an animal card with the Zooballoo cart. I don't have that one and so I knew that I would have to use one of the older carts. I love the Winnie the Pooh Font cart, but so far had only used the letters. I think Pooh is such a cutie, and when I saw this image, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! I'm pretty happy with it, except for the little grasshopper. I'm not thrilled with his face. I could have done a better job. One of these days, I will break down and buy some Peach Keen stamps. They are too cute!!!

Card recipe:

Winnie the Pooh Font cartridge (for Pooh)

Stretch Your Imagination (for the grasshopper)

Plantin' Schoolbook (for the grass)

Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes embossing folder for the tree (I hand cut this)

Butterfly punch

Stickles, of course!!

Hero Arts "Everyday Sayings" Stamp set
