Sorry, I'm late posting. Trying to get these kiddos ready for back to school, getting ready for a wedding next weekend, a birthday party that I'm making the invites for, and I had to drive my daughter to go babysit unexpectedly last night. These are the days when I really wish I was more organized. You know.....one of those moms who gets everything done, whose hair is always fixed, and whose house is always clean and tidy. I am totally NOT that person. I'm lucky to get a couple of things on my "to do" list done, hair is usually in a messy ponytail, and currently my house looks like a tornado hit it.....sigh. Anyway, I did not make it to putting up my post yesterday and I apologize. It's a great challenge that Mary has picked for us.

Under the Sea......anything that you might find in the ocean. Fish, seahorses, shells, mermaids, anything. Have fun with it and post it on the Paper Cutz Challenge blog for a chance at a prize. For my card, I decided on a Fish Bowl card. It was originally going to be an ocean scene instead, but I couldn't get the layout like I wanted, so I decided to go with the shaped bowl. I used a Stampin' Up set that I had for the fish and stamped it with VersaMark and used black embossing powder. I colored the fish with glitter gel pens. I punched out the balloons with a balloon punch from The Paper Studio. The fish bowl and seaweed are from Create-a Critter and the sand was cut freehand. I cut a smaller layer of a bowl and trimmed off the top and bottom to make the water. I ran that through a Sizzix folder that came in a summer set. I pop dotted the balloons and the fish onto the card and stamped the sentiment at the bottom. After I snapped the pic of my card, I added white gel pen highlights to the "bubbles" made by the embossing folder. I really thing that gave the card more "pop" than what it looks like here.

So, that's my card for this week! Be sure to put yours on the PCC blog. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Thanks for visiting my purple playroom! Have a great weekend!

Lisa P.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-34056871751018455362011-07-15T08:46:00.000-07:002011-07-15T09:06:27.361-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge #100....The sky's the limit!!!

Hello everyone! I have a problem that I'm hoping someone can help me out with. I have been trying to leave comments on some of your blogs and everytime I try to enter it, it sends me to sign into my google account, which I do. Then when I go back to comment, it does the same thing, so I can't leave comments for anyone. Am I doing something wrong or does anyone have any other ideas for me? I'm stuck. I just want you to know that I am trying to participate on your blogs, too.....I'm just having issues! I am not a computer person, can you tell?? LOL!

OK, onto business! PCC challenge #100.....can't believe it! Mary was nice enough to let her DT come up with theme ideas and mine was chosen this time! Woo hoo!!!! I chose "the sky's the limit". Anything that you might find in the sky.....birds, planes, super heros, fairies, aliens, sunshine, hot air balloons, stars, moons.....you get the picture! Get creative and see where your imagination takes you! Then link it up on the PCC for your chance at a prize at the end of the month.

Originally for my project, I had decided on a card for every season. Obviously, I only posted one card this week. I ran out of time. Yesterday was CRAZY around here! My youngest left for church camp this morning, and let's just say we weren't exactly prepared yesterday. See, I told you I am unorganized and bad with managing my time wisely!! Anyway, the other cards will keep for another time. I decided that my thing in the sky would be clouds and raindrops. It is hotter than heck here in Arkansas, so I have got RAIN on the brain right now. We got a little the other day, but I would love to get more, because I am dying in this heat!! Yuck! I also have had a pretty cruddy week anyway, so I decided on this sentiment, which I LOVE! I used the "joy fold" technique for this card. The carts that I used are "Hello Kitty Greetings" for the rainbow and I don't remember which one I used for the clouds. I just found a cloud on my Gypsy, then I fooled around with the measurements until I liked how it looked. The kid stamps are from Stampin' Up and the sentiment was done on my computer using the "Garfield" font. P.S. I know that isn't and it's should have apostrophes in them, but this font doesn't make them. I meant to draw them in before I took the pics, but forgot, and now it's bugging me! Can't wait to see what you all come up with! Thanks for stopping by my purple playroom!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-15167169914347505832011-07-08T20:06:00.000-07:002011-07-08T20:32:00.788-07:00A New Paper Cutz Challenge.....and a Winner!!!

OK, sorry I am so late posting tonight, but today is my 16th anniversary to my wonderful hubby, Erik, so we went out to dinner (with the kiddos, of course). I am finally getting some downtime in my purple playroom to relax a little. So, first things first. Thank you ALL so much for participating in our first blog hop at the PCC. It was so much fun and I am so excited to have some new followers! I hope to gain even more in the future and have more give-aways and possibly (yikes!!!) a future video tutorial or two. That terrifies me because I hate my voice on tape, but I think it would be fun, so we'll see. Anyway, I'm very new to all of this blog candy and stuff so please bear with me. I really wish I could give you all a prize, but that's not how it works. What I did was write everyone's name down on a piece of paper, fold it up and put it into a box. I called my youngest into my craft room and he drew a name for me. The winner is............

craftaholic!!!!!

Congratulations! I will contact you to get your info!

So, now onto our new challenge for the week. This was a fun one for me, too! Paper Cutz Challenge #99 is to use a Cricut cut, hand stamped or digital stamped image of an ice cream cone or sundae, a popsicle, or a milkshake. You may use any color that you like and it may be a card, layout or other paper project. Enter it at PCC for your chance at a prize. Now, for my cards, I only knew for sure that I wanted it to be a grape popsicle. I love the popsicle cut on my Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge and I love purple (obviously). Kind of funny that I hate grape popsicles, but I digress. Anyway, I could not decide on a layout or anything, so I just played around all day Thursday and ended up with three different cards. The only things I kept the same were the colors, the cut of the popsicle and the Sizzix embossing folder. I even tried out three different techniques on my popsicles to see which effect I liked the best. On the "You're so sweet" I clear embossed the popsicles. On the "Sweet Birthday Wishes" I used Diamond Glaze on the popsicles, and on the final one, I simply drew on highlights with my white gel pen. Another cool thing that I tried on the "You're so sweet" card was that I made the straight glitter lines on the card with the red sticky strip tape. I think this came out really cool and was very excited that it actually worked. I'm always trying to come up with new ways to use my products and this technique has definite possibilites! I added the I-Rock gems as an afterthought. I can't wait to see the projects you guys come up with! This next week, I am going to do my very best to get by all of your blogs and check them out and become a follower.

************************************************************************************

One last thing, I have a small giveaway that I want to do for this week. So, leave me a comment and let me know: 1. Which of my cards do you like best? 2. What is your favorite summer time cold treat? Are you a popsicle person or an ice cream lover? Let me know and I will pick a winner next week. The winner will receive a small popsicle stamp and a set of white cards and envelopes that are all ready for you to embellish! Good luck!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-23937958874564598012011-07-06T15:20:00.000-07:002011-07-06T15:41:13.666-07:00An Update on the Giveaway!

Hey, everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! First, I have to admit something to you all.....I am not a great time manager, I'm a little unorganized, a bit forgetful, and a big time procrastinator. I like to tell my self that it's because I'm such a creative thinker. You know, we have so much going on in our minds all the time that we have trouble keeping track of everything. Yeah.....THAT'S what I tell myself! LOL!! Anyway, I kept meaning to get a pic of the blog candy on here, then I started trying to straighten my craft room so that the picture wouldn't show how messy it is in here. Well, that led to me going through everything in here trying to organize stuff and now it looks like a bomb went off. See what I mean? I'm easily distracted! I also meant to get by everyone's blogs that commented here and look at your projects and become a follower, if I haven't already. I apologize for dragging my feet and I will try to do better. I honestly appreciate each and every one of you that took the time to stop by here and become followers of my blog! Thanks so much!

Anyway, I will draw for the blog candy tomorrow and post on Friday when I post my new Papercutz Challenge project for the week. It's a great challenge, everyone, so be sure to play along with us! I wanted to give you a chance to see exactly what the blog candy will be, though, so I added a picture and a list of what's up for grabs. I'm going to try to start doing more giveaways here on my blog, so stay tuned!

Blog candy:

1 Xyron 1.5 inch create-a-sticker

1 package textured cards and envelopes

3 packages of bling (pearls and diamonds)

4 Sakura Gelly Roll pens (1 metallic silver, 1 metallic gold, 1 white, and 1 Clear Star)

1 stamping block

17 assorted clear stamps (some are sets, some are singles...yes, I have a stamp addiction and sometimes accidentally buy duplicates, so I decided to pass them on to a lucky winner!)

Good luck, everyone!

Hugs!

Lisa P.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-30197708910305732512011-07-01T05:00:00.000-07:002011-07-01T05:00:02.600-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge Star Spangled Blog Hop!

Welcome to my purple playroom everyone and Happy 4th of July weekend! I am so excited for my very first blog hop! If you came from Mary's page at the PCC, then you are going in the right direction! Otherwise, go back and start here.

Our project for this week was to make a banner for the 4th of July. Now, I usually don't make big projects, only cards, so I was a little nervous about this one! I just decided to take each piece of my banner one step at a time and work from there. Mary wanted lots of bling, so I decided that I would use glitter on my letters and my red bling for trim on the banner pieces. I used my Elegant Edges cartridge for my banner pieces. I chose a scalloped circle that I liked and cut it out at 7 1/2 inches, then cut a shadow layer from blue. I cut these circles in half and layered them. I cut my letters at 3 1/2 inches, I believe and ran them through my Xyron sticker maker, then peeled off the backing and sprinkled on the red Martha Stewart glitter. I LOVE my Xyron for glittering big areas and for flocking. I love it so much that I think that EVERYONE should have one, so I am giving one away as part of my blog candy! I have a breast cancer awareness Xyron that I will be giving away, so be sure to become a follower of my blog and leave me a comment and a way to contact you. On Monday, I will draw a winner.

Now, back to my banner. Once I put the letters on the banner pieces, I laid them all out on the floor and unrolled a whole roll of patriotic wide ribbon that I got at Walmart. I centered it onto my banner and glued it with Aleine's glitter and gem glue. I added the yellow ribbon that I cut from Stand and Salute as a reminder of all of our men and women currently serving overseas. I am an Air Force wife and my hubby has missed more holidays than I care to remember, so we totally understand and appreciate the sacrifice that these brave people make for us! Let's all remember them this weekend!

Thanks so much for joining me for the blog hop! Don't forget to comment and follow at a chance for my blog candy! Saturday, I will try to put up a post showing what I will be giving away. Truth is, I'm not completely sure what I'll include! Definitely the Xyron, a set of pre-cut cards and envelopes, some clear stamps, a couple of Gelly Roll pens and some bling! Lots of goodies! And also remember that Mary is giving away candy, as well at Paper Cutz! Your next stop on this blog hop will be:

Penny's blog: http://www.pennydouph.blogspot.com/

Thanks again for visiting! Welcome to another Paper Cutz Challenge! This challenge is a color challenge using ONLY the colors pink, white and orange! That's it. Any theme is ok. So, get busy and make your own card, layout or papercraft project and link it up at the PCC for a chance to win a prize!

My card is fairly simple, but looks very cute, if I do say so myself. I took some orange and pink gingham paper and cut these squares, then cut these circles in orange and pink cardstock. I ran those through my Swiss Dots embossing folder and inked the edges. The flowers are punched with Marvy punches. I punched the small flower first, then took a larger flower punch and punced out the open flowers. I ran the small flowers through the Swiss Dots folder and inked all of the edges on the flowers. I punched the circles out of cardstock for the flower centers and inked them as well. I added these gems from Hobby Lobby to add some bling. I layered the card together, pop-dotting the small flowers to add some dimension to my card. The sentiment is embossed with detail black and I added the small diamond to finish off my card.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-27132984142839343552011-06-04T14:58:00.001-07:002011-06-04T15:08:01.273-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge and Two Takes on One Product

Hey everyone! This weeks challenge at Mary's blog is to do a card or project with a beach theme. I decided that I wanted to use a really pretty shell stamp that I bought last year and that I wanted to play around with my Tim Holtz Perfect Pearls a little. I LOVE these things! I need to get more colors. It's amazing to me how many different looks you can get with one product. These are definitely worth the money! They have lots of uses and a little product goes a long way. Only one of my projects ended up on Mary's blog because I hadn't finished the second one yet, but I will be sharing them both with you today. The Father's Day card shows the Perfect Pearls used dry on clear embossing ink. The black seashell card shows what happens when you use the product with water. Two very different, beautiful, and dramatic looks, don't you think? If yoh have any questions let me know. I can give instructions. There are also several great tutorials for Perfect Pearls on Youtube. Have a great day!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-54047967030436761152011-04-30T09:34:00.000-07:002011-04-30T09:59:12.708-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge #89

Good morning! Hope all is well! I am a day late on my post this week because I was on Mom-duty all day yesterday. My youngest had his very last track and field day ever! I cannot tell you how sad that makes me! Next year, my children will be in 7th, 8th, and 10th grade. Just typing that makes me want to cry. Where have the years gone??? I love being a mom to these kiddos so much and it seems like in the blink of an eye, they will be grown and gone....sigh. Well, I guess I just need to enjoy these years while I can and savor every minute.

So, onto my project for the Paper Cutz Challenge blog. This week is anything goes-any color, theme, etc. I made some thank you cards for two sweet young ladies at my church. They are both about to have babies, one a girl and the other a boy. They asked me to help them make their shower invitations. They are having their shower together and chose a bird theme. They picked sage green, cream, and polka dotted cardstock. So, Thursday they came to my house and we spent several hours cutting their cards out on my Cricut. When they were getting ready to leave, one of the girls was being so sweet trying to clean up my craftroom and she THREW ALL THE SCRAPS AWAY!!! I about had a heart attack. We paper crafters NEVER throw scraps away. These were 12x12 sheets with one card cut out on them! There was LOTS of paper left. As soon as they left, I dug all that paper out of the trash and trimmed it all up. As I was trimming the paper, I came up with these cards. I decided to make thank-you cards for these ladies as a surprise. I cut these cute little birds out of my Straight from the Nest cartridge. They stamped birds on their cards. I made little blue birds for the mommy-to-be of the little boy and pink for the mommy-to-be of the girl. I ran those through my Swiss Dots folder, then inked the edges with Tim Holtz distress inks. I cut the sage cardstock into 3x3 cards and matted them with the cream cardstock that I inked on the edges with more distress ink. The patterned paper was punched with a Fiskars border punch. I inked this with distress ink as well. I stamped the sentiment with the same ink, then pop-dotted the birds onto the cards. I think that they are so cute and I know the girls will love this surprise.

It's so funny. I look at these young ladies just starting out, about to have these precious babies. Then I look at my sweet kiddos, growing up so fast, and it's so bittersweet. I hope that they take the time to enjoy every single moment with those babies because it goes by so fast! We should all take the time to enjoy our families. These moments are all so precious! Have a great week everyone and don't forget to head over to the Paper Cutz Challenge blog and enter your project!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-54288368491575756202011-04-07T16:46:00.000-07:002011-04-08T06:06:24.925-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge #86

This week's challenge at the Paper Cutz Challenge blog is to make a card, layout, or other paper project with a Cricut cut or stamped image of an, chick, rabbit, or lamb. You can use any colors that you like. Here is what I came up with. It originally started out as a shape card, but I couldn't get my basket right. Rather than waste more paper and drive myself absolutely crazy, I decided to do this instead. I used Bazzil Bling and Recollections Signature cardstock. These papers are so gorgeous!! So shimmery and pretty, but unfortunately, they don' t photograph well. The basket and eggs are from Doodlecharms, the grass is Martha Stewart's edge punch, the yellow corners are from Martha. The pearls and ribbon are random finds at Michael's, the tag is from Cuttlebug. I embossed all of the eggs with different folders, then inked them with Tim Holtz distress inks. I inked the basket, as well. All in all, I love this card. It didn't photgraph great , though. My one wish about this card was that it photographed better. I am the worst at shooting things that are shiny, shimmery, or glittery in any way....ugh! Happy April! It's hard to believe that spring is almost here. It's been cold and rainy here all week. Hope it warms up a little soon. But with spring comes Easter and that is probably my favorite holiday of the year. I love the real meaning of Easter....Christ dying on the cross for us, then rising again! What a gift of pure love! I have to admit that I also enjoy the other parts of this holiday, too. The bunnies, chicks, lambs and eggs. The pretty colors....everything! Well, maybe not the Easter grass so much. That stufff gets everywhere! LOL. But, enough about all of that....onto this weeks challenge for Paper Cutz! The new challenge is any kind of Easter project that you can dream up-card, layout, or other paper project. Any color, shape, etc. is fine. Skies the limit! Once you finish, link it up on the PCC site at your chance at a prize at the end of the month. Here's my project....

I decided that I wanted to do a punch bunny. I really love punch art. I think it looks cute and I love the challenge of using my punches to come up with different shapes. Whenever I buy a punch now, I try to envision other ways in which I can use it. I do the same with my Cricut cartridges now, too. Now I just need to find the time to sit down and make all of this stuff!! Anyway, I used circle punches for the bunnies body. Can you guess how I made the ears? I used Martha Stewart's rose leaf punch! I just trimmed off the edges of the leaves. I ran all of these pieces through my Xyron and then rubbed white flocking all over them to make my bunnies fuzzy. The rest of the card was made with various Martha punches and scraps of paper and cardstock from my stash. I printed the sentiment on my computer and punched the edge with a Stampin Up edge punch and added some bling. I really think my little bunny card came out pretty cute. My daughter thought I should have made the bunnies brown, though. Not sure if I agree or not. Might have to just make another one and see what I think! Have a wonderful day and don't forget to join the Paper Cutz Challenge!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-29011784903691486002011-03-19T13:37:00.000-07:002011-03-19T13:52:24.501-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge #83

Hello, everyone! The current challenge for the PCC this week is.....anything goes! Whatever color, theme, image-the skies the limit! I decided to try and make a more elegant card this time. I have a friend whose daughter will be getting married this summer, so I decided that I wanted to make a wedding card for her. I can't believe she's old enough to get married....makes me feel old!! LOL! Anyway, I've been seeing these pretty hearts that people made to look like a bride and groom on-line and thought that I could do that! So, I punched out three hearts-one black and two white. I ran one of the white ones through my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. I added three tiny pearl embellishments down the front of the heart and added two black mini brads to the black heart. Well I did that after I had cut down the center of the heart to about the middle and folded back those sides to form a lapel. I adhered that to the other white heart and hand cut a bow tie. I used one of my Quick Kutz embossing folders and a Spellbinders die for the Shape I cut with the champagne colored shimmery cardstock. I cut a frame out of the black shimmery cardstock with the Spellbinders also. I thought that it needed a little more pop, so I used an EK Success edge punch and layered some metallic red cardstock behind it. I love this punch. It reminds me of jewels for some reason and thought it would lend itself well to the theme of this card. I used the same red cardstock to make my roses, which I made with my Martha Stewart hydrangea punches. I LOVE these punches! So easy and fun to make these roses and so much cheaper than buying the premade ones. I used my Martha rose leaf punch for the leaves. I added some tiny diamond embellishments to the centers of the flowers and I think it finished my card off nicely! I had the best time making this card! Well, I attempted to take a relaxing Sunday afternoon nap, but my boys were playing and woke me up. I was kind of grumpy at first, but thought about the fact that they are 11 and 12 years old and probably won't laugh and play together like this for much longer, so I better enjoy it while it lasts! I also just had to tell a sweet family that goes to my church goodbye.....they are moving away to Tennessee and I am going to miss them so much! They have the sweetest kids and my entire family has grown to love them a lot. I tried not to tear up when I told them bye, but I couldn't help it! So, I'm having a bit of a sad day today, so I decided to share this cheery cherry card that I made the other day for my sister. My little sister LOVES things with cherries on them and she loves blue and yellow together, so I put them together and came up with this card! It's just so cheerful looking and I really love it! Here's the recipe:

A2 size
Recollections cardstock
Sizzix embossing folder and scalloped circle die
Stampin' Up edge punch
Stampin' Up cupcake die for the cherries
Circle Punches by Marvy Uchida
Paper piercing tool, ribbon from Michaels, green marker for cherry stems, white pen for highlights on cherries, patterned paper for bowl, embossing pad and powder for bowl

Hope you like it and if you have any questions, let me know!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-78089703521484943182011-03-11T12:52:00.000-08:002011-03-11T13:08:08.756-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #82.....and a Cautionary Tale!

Hello, everyone! It's such a beautiful day today here in Arkansas, but my thoughts keep drifting to the people of Japan. What a sad day for them! Let's keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Now, I must tell you about my cards this week, and the bone-headed thing that I did! I had read what this week's challenge was going to be last week. It is a color challenge to use black, white, red, yellow, and blue only! Now, at first I thought, "ugh....what am I going to do??" I'm not really great at color challenges. At all! Well, one night my son was playing one of his video games. He has this package of styluses that go with his game that are in all of the shades of the rainbow. Well, the case they came in had those colors dripping down the front as if it were paint. I thought it was really cool looking and also that my Martha Stewart "Drippy Goo" punch would do a good job of closely duplicating that. Then, I remembered a stamp that I have that says, "Feeling blue? Try painting yourself a different color!" HELLO???? Perfect idea for a card....woo hoo!! So, off I rush to my craft room to whip out this card. I even made a second card, that sort of reminds me of a Rubic's Cube. So, I go to my e-mail to send Mary my submission and I check which challenge # we were on and there it was.....my huge mistake. I used GREEN on my cards. BOTH of my cards. Green was not one of the colors we were supposed to use! Geez....I felt like an idiot. The bad part was that I didn't have time to redo them correctly because I had company coming. I sent them to Mary and explained my plight and told her that I was sorry and understood that she would not be able to post them on her blog. Well, Mary was so gracious and said that this was about having fun and that she most certainly would post my cards anyway! What an awesome and understanding lady Mary is! I couldn't be prouder to be a part of her Design Team. Go check out the blog and add your own card.....just be sure not to use green!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-79121094600174554502011-02-26T12:06:00.000-08:002011-02-26T12:33:47.156-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #80

It's time for another fabulous challenge at the PCC. The challenge for this week is Spring! Any colors, images, or cuts that you like. Anything goes. So let your imagination go wild! You can make a card, a scrapbook layout, or any other paper project that you like and post the picture with a link to your blog on the Paper Cutz blog and you will be entered to win a prize at the end of the month. Head on over to Mary's blog for all the details and join in the fun!

So, on to my DT submission for this week. I love to go to all of the craft stores and hunt for great deals. My general rule is not to buy anything that is not on sale or that I do not have a coupon for. If I don't have a coupon and it's not on sale, I can almost always get a better deal online somewhere. This "rule" has saved me a fortune over the years and has helped me to fill my craft room with all sorts of goodies. I also LOVE digging through the dollar bin at Michael's. I never know what treasures I'm going to find, which leads me to my card. I found these adorable Easter stamps in the dollar bin and I just had to have them! Aren't these the cutest little chick, bunny, and lamb you've ever seen? I knew immediately that I had to have them and make a card with them. I thought that they would be perfect for this challenge.

For my card, I stamped these little guys onto white cardstock and punched them with a square punch. My punch would not fit the whole body of the critters, so I decided to "crop" them and make them into "photos". I matted them in black for more of a photograph effect. I colored the images with a set of markers that I got at Hobby Lobby (with a 40% off coupon-LOL). I decided that I wanted to do a pink and yellow card. I love pink and yellow together and think that it's a classic spring color combo. I cut an A2 sized pink card and the cardfront from yellow. I embossed the cardfront with a Cuttlebug folder. The ribbon is some that I got at Hobby Lobby when it was 50% off. For the sentiment, I found this saying in my stash of clear stamps and decided to stamp it onto the yellow cardstock. I cut this out with one of my Spellbinder Labels sets and matted it onto pink cardstock. I decided that my card was missing something, so I punched out the little flower from an EK success punch that I had. I cut several layers of this daisy-type flower and curled the edges around a paintbrush to give it some dimension. I added the leaves and this cute little yellow button brad. I pop-dotted the sentiment to the card. I really love how this card came out and think I might make more to send out to brighten someone's day! Hope you like it and don't forget to head over to Paper Cutz and enter the challenge!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-38667837999088202222011-02-11T09:25:00.000-08:002011-02-11T09:40:58.477-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #78

Hello, everyone! Trying my best to keep warm today. We got almost 8 inches of snow in our yard on Wednesday! It has caused our town to pretty much come to a halt. Thankfully, I haven't had to get out, but my hubby had to go back to work today, which took him over an hour to go about 15 miles!!! But, he made it safely, so that's good!

So, onto this week's challenge. You are to create a card, layout or other papercrafting project that features either butterflies, bees, or ladybugs. Once you've finished your project, put it on your blog and submit your project on the PCC. You'll then be entered for a prize at the end of the month. Good luck!

Here's my submission for the challenge. I decided to go with bees for my project. I love the look of black and yellow together and think it creates a striking look. The design of my card was pretty simple, but I really love the results. I made an A2 sized card with a yellow card front that I ran through my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. I cut 3 squares from yellow that I also ran through the folder, then 3 slightly larger black squares that I matted the yellow squares to. I punched out 3 bees with my Martha Stewart bee punch and attached them to the squares with glue dots. I added black mini brads to the corners of the squares. I pop-dotted the squares to the card front. For a final touch, I punched these zig zags with my EK success edge punch and attached them to the card. See, simple, right? But, I think you would agree that the black and yellow really "pops"! I can't wait to see what you come up with, so be sure to submit your "buggy" project to the Paper Cutz Challenge!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-41300472657624979202011-01-29T16:18:00.000-08:002011-01-29T17:09:42.660-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #76

So, this week's challenge at the PCC is a good one! You are to make a card, layout, or other paper project with a Valentine's theme and using a cupcake, cookie, cake, or candy. It can be a hand-stamped, digital-stamped or Cricut cut image. Please check out Mary's blog for inspiration, then make your own project and upload it to her blog for your chance to win a prize. Now, on to my submission for the week....

I just recently purchased several Cricut cartridges from Custom Crops. They had a really good sale going on and I decided to splurge. Hey, I have a birthday coming up in February, so I thought "what the heck?" One of my new cartridges is the Rock Princess cartridge. It has a cut of a cupcake pirate on it. I thought that the little cupcake with the boots on was so cute and different, so I decided that would go on my card! I didn't really care for the pirate face, though, so I left that layer off.

Anyway, I cut the little guys at 1 1/2 inches. I ran the frosting hats through my Xyron and glittered them with red glitter that I got from the Michael's dollar bin. I hand-drew the little faces. I punched all of the little hearts with my Martha "heart confetti" punch. I used two of my Spellbinders dies for the background that I pop-dotted my little cupcakes to. I used my Martha Stewart cupcake border punch for the top and bottom of my card. The card that I made is a pop-up card that I found a tutorial for on Splitcoast Stampers recently. It was really very easy to make. The sentiments are from Inkadinkadoo, I believe. All of the bling was random stuff I had in my embellishments drawer. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Don't forget to head on over to Paper Cutz Challenge and join the challenge this week!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-22579516828399333462011-01-21T06:38:00.000-08:002011-01-21T06:51:13.976-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #75

Hi everyone! This week at Paper Cutz Challenge....ANYTHING goes! Any colors, patterns, themes, whatever. Sky's the limit!

I don't know what the weather's like in your neck of the woods, but ours has been cold and snowy. In our town, we aren't really prepared for that sort of weather, so even if it snows a little, things kind of come to a stand-still around here! Such was the case yesterday. It started to snow, so they closed the schools down. As I was driving through the snow to get my kiddos, I was inspired to make a spring card. Something to brighten someone's dreary day. Making it sure brightened mine!

I found a cool tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers for a tent card, so that's what I decided to make. I used a paper pack that I got at Joanne's on clearance for my card. I just got in my new Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge and used that for my flowers. This is such an awesome cartridge and I cannot wait to use it more! I inked the edges before I put them together. The sentiment was a stamp that I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-1908552170302276182010-12-11T10:34:00.000-08:002010-12-11T10:49:39.022-08:00Pop Art Snowman Card

Hello, everyone! I don't know about your neck of the woods, but it's getting COLD around here where I live. I always want for the weather to get cold, but then when it gets here, I find myself wishing for warmer weather again....sigh. Anyway, it's time for another challenge at PCC. This week's theme is very fitting for this cold weather. You are to make a card, layout, or other project with a snowman or snowflake. It can be stamped or Cricut. Go visit Mary's blog for inspiration from all of the awesome design team projects, then submit your own for a chance at a prize. Now, onto my creation.....

I have always been fascinated by the pop art by Andy Warhol. I would never want to hang one in my house or anything, but I've always found his work quite interesting. I love looking at different types of art. I really admire all of the creativity that some people have. Ever since I have been making cards, I have wanted to do a card based off of one of Andy Warhol's paintings. The ones that always come to my mind are the ones that have the same picture painted in different colors. I think that one is really cool. That is what I based my card off of this week. So, go find your inspiration and submit your project to the Paper Cutz Challenge!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-86065175491524431582010-12-07T14:26:00.000-08:002010-12-07T14:30:59.401-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #70

Hi guys! I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by family and friends. We went to a friend's house this year instead of traveling to visit familly. But when I really think about it, the past six years of living here in Arkansas, I have made special friends that I consider to be part of my family anyway! This week, Mary at Paper Cutz Challenge gave us a great challenge......ANYTHING goes! That's right, folks-anything colors, themes, shapes, whatever you can dream up! You can visit the PCC for some Design Team inspiration, then put together something spectacular and submit it to the challenge.

Here is my submission for this week....I decided that I wanted to make a Christmas tree. I wanted it to be bright and colorful. For the base of my tree, I used a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and cut a circle from George and Basic using the fit to page button. I think it cut the circle at about 10.5 inches. I cut the circle in half and made one of the halves into a cone. You can get two of these from each sheet of cardstock. This makes your tree. Next, I took various pieces of patterned paper and punched them out with my 2 inch scalloped circle punch. I cut these into quarters and adhered them to my tree, placing a ring of each pattern around my tree starting from the bottom. I used glue dots to do this, but any good adhesive will do. For the "garland" around my tree, I took a circle of patterned paper that was about the circumference of the base of my tree. I cut a spiral from this circle and draped it over the tree (I hope this makes sense, if not, let me know). I punched out stars from yellow paper for my tree topper. I decided that I didn't want my tree just sitting on the table, so I painted a small clay pot green and added red polka dots. I put clay inside the pot and inside the top of the tree and inserted a wooden dowel into both pieces of clay to put the tree together. I want to do more of these and possibly use them for place settings this year at Christmas. I can place peoples names on them with vinyl and put a small gift under the tree or candy in the pot. Hmmmmm......
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-89153248098965572112010-11-19T04:54:00.000-08:002010-11-19T05:05:18.133-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #68

Hey everyone! I used my Accent Essentials Cricut cartridge. I cut two snowflakes out of white irridescent cardstock, then one hot pink blacked-out snowflake. I added a turquoise gem to the center of the top snowflake before I adhered all of the layers together. I put a hole in the top of the snowflake and threaded gold cording through for a hanger. Next, I added all of these pretty metallic Dew Drops, then finally, Diamond Stickles. I love how my snowflake came out and can't wait to make more!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-69431234870512923762010-11-13T10:20:00.000-08:002010-11-13T12:02:04.099-08:00Paper Cutz Challenge #67

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone has had a great week. We've been battling a stomach virus that has made it's way through our town and now the youngest has strep throat! Yuck! I managed to get into the craft room for our next challenge at the Paper Cutz Challenge blog. This week's challenge is to do a Thanksgiving card, layout, or other paper project using buttons and bows. I decided that I wanted to make a pumpkin card and that I wanted to make it like a flower pot card. I designed it on my Gypsy. I cut out three ovals at 3 inches from brown cardstock, then I cut out three more from patterned paper. To make the card base, I welded three of the ovals at 3 inches with the shadow feature on. I made two of these. This formed my pumpkin. I layered my cardstock ovals and patterned paper ovals by running the patterned paper through my Xyron. I placed these three ovals onto one of my pumpkins. To put my card together, I applied a thin line of good strong glue around the edge of the pumpkin sillhouette that did not have the paper on it, leaving the top of the pumpkin glue-free. I carefully added the paper-covered pumpkin to this making sure that the edges adhered firmly. For the slider part of the card, I cut a rectangle of paper that was just wide enough to slide in and out of the pumpkin easily and just tall enough to apply a few sunflowers to. To make the sunflowers, I punched out several scalloped circles. I punched out some from my 1.5 inch punch and some with my 2 inch punch. I cut in between the scallops to form the flower petals. Now, our challenge was to use buttons (and bows), so I decided to make my own buttons. For this, I used my Martha Stewart button punch. I absolutely LOVE this punch and am so happy that I bought it! I punched buttons out from my patterned paper that I used to make my pumpkin. Next I punched out an equal number of buttons from brown cardstock. I layered one patterned paper button onto one cardstock button to give it some dimension and make it look like a real button. To complete the button look, I used my Versamark pen and colored all over the patterned paper side of my button. I covered it in clear embossing powder and used my heat tool on it. Now, these look like real buttons! To finish up my buttons, I threaded some DNC floss through the holes and trimmed the excess thread off. I glued these buttons to the centers of my sunflowers. The sunflower leaves were from a Spellbinders set of mine. I cut out two and inked the edges. I adhered these leaves to the pumpkin. I slid the rectangle slider part into the pumpkin and arranged my sunflowers around the top of this and glued them in place, taking care not to get the glue onto the pumpkin, too.

I felt like my card was missing something, so I added the white dots to the patterned paper using my gel pen. I decided that I wanted to make a vine for my pumpkin from ribbon. I had an idea for how to accomplish this and hoped it worked. Here is the technique I came up with: I took some very small dowels that I had and took some satin ribbon and taped one end of the ribbon to one end of the dowel. I tightly wrapped the ribbon around the dowel in a single-layered corkscrew and taped the other end to the bottom of the dowel. Next, I spritzed my ribbon all over with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (I think water could possibly work as well), making sure to spritz all of your ribbon. Lastly, I took my heat embossing tool and ran it over my ribbon turning my dowel slowly. Make sure to get every part of your ribbon. I let it cool for a minute or two, then removed the tape from the ends and unwound the ribbon slowly. I had a perfect spiral ribbon! I was so excited that it worked-woo hoo!!!! The "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment is from Stampendous, I think. The other card was made from all of the leftover pieces and scraps from my first card. I think it came out really cute, too! I can't wait to give these cards to someone special this Thanksgiving! Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to visit the Paper Cutz Challenge blog and check out the rest of the design team project and add one of your own!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-12907628163552057932010-11-06T07:42:00.000-07:002010-11-06T08:16:48.243-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge #66

Good morning! Brrrr.....it's so cold outside this morning! Looks like winter is finally getting here. I thought we were never going to get cooler weather here in Arkansas. I'm always ready for the cold weather, then when it gets here, I wish it was warm again. Typical human behavior, I suppose. Anyway, on to our challenge. This week's challenge is to make a card, layout or other paper project that is a get well them and has a stamped or cut out image of something that flies. You are free to use any colors that you wish. If you go to the Paper Cutz Challenge blog, you'll get lots of inspiration and when you enter your own project, you'll go into the drawing for a prize at the end of the month! Now, onto my project.....

I found the tutorial for this treat box on the Splitcoast Stampers website. They have so many awesome projects, so if you have never checked it out, you totally should! The hardest part of this project was deciding what patterned paper to use. LOL. I thought this box would make a perfect get well project and would be ideal for holding a packet of chicken noodle soup mix. Of course, little did I know that I was all out of soup mix! Luckily, I keep vegetable soup mix on hand for making spinach dip. However, I didn't like the dark blue packaging with my lightly colored box, so I decided to make a label for the soup and think it turned out really cute!

Project recipe:
Random patterned paper from my vast collection
white and green cardstock from Recollections
Spellbinders pendant die
"get well soon" Cuttlebug die
Martha Stewart butterfly punches
Fiskars scalloped border punch
"to perk you up" stamp
Tuxedo Black ink from Memento
Stickles
pearl embellishments
pop dots
ribbon from my large stash

Now it's your turn! Make a get well project and enter it at the Paper Cutz Challenge blog and you will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the month. It's that easy! Good luck.....

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-4360965109893354812010-10-28T07:37:00.000-07:002010-10-29T16:23:37.090-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge #65

Good morning everyone!

This week's challenge at the PCC is to make a card, layout, or paper project for Breast Cancer Awareness month using any colors you would like. Breast cancer is a disease that touches the lives of almost everyone. I think most of us know someone that has been diagnosed with this illness. Both of my grandmothers had breast cancer. One of them survived, but the other, unfortunately did not. By the time she was diagnosed, it has spread to her lungs. I have known many other people through the years that have been diagnosed and the one thing that I notice about the survivors is their attitude! My high school English teacher was the most positive lady when she was going through her treatment. She would always play and sing that song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and she would take off her wig in class! She did not let it get her down and she beat her cancer! That is what inspired this card today. I thought it was simple, but sassy. This is for all the fighters out there.....you go, girls!!!!

Be sure to submit your project to the Paper Cutz Challenge blog!

Recipe:

Recollections Cardstock

Zebra cardstock (Hobby Lobby)

Sizzix die cut

Jewel brads from my stash
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376327879488273479.post-33952084646196995792010-10-23T09:10:00.001-07:002010-10-23T09:24:26.988-07:00Paper Cutz Challenge #64

Hello! Then create your own and link it up on Mary's blog by Thursday for your chance at a fabulous prize! Good luck to all!

For my project, I took a little inspiration from my favorite holiday movie, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". As a child, I looked forward to the time when it would come on tv once a year. You know, before the days of dvds and instant gratification. We had things to look forward to and be excited about back then! Sometimes I miss that time! It was always a big deal in our house. Anyway, I love the scene at the end when the Great Punpkin reveals himself and that's what "inspired" this card.

Card recipe:
5 1/2x 5 1/2 sized card
Circle punch for moon
Oval punch for pumpkins
Star punch
Martha Stewart grass border punch
Tear drop punch for the eyes in the tree
Cuttlebug Halloween set for the bat and tree
Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug folder for the tree
Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls for the ghosts
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1
