New card, new challenges

Well, Emma (at My Creative Time) posted another challenge that I had to do! It was a Peachy Keen sketch challenge. They gave us a card sketch and we make the card and post a link on their blog. I am really enjoying doing these challenges. It really gets me in my room and working. Sometimes it's good to have a definite direction to go in to get you started. Sometimes, I get "card maker's block" and can't get going on my own! Originally, when I started this card, I wanted it to say family because it is a little family of flowers. When I started digging through my stamps, I saw this one that said, "love grows" and I changed my mind about the family thing. Being a military wife and having to move away from my family has changed the way I look at life. I have grown to truly love and care about the people around me. I have "grown" new relationships and formed bonds with people that will last a lifetime. I think of the phrase "bloom where you are planted". It's so true about life. The first year I lived here I about withered and died because I thought I could not be away from my family, but now, five years later, we are thriving here! Once I let go of those feelings about what "family" means, I gained many more "family" members who would do anything in the world for me.
I think it's cool how creating things can really get you to thinking about life and the world. At least it does for me! OK, enough mushy stuff about puppies and rainbows, let's get down to this card stuff!

Card recipe:

Recollections cardstock
Spellbinders Sunflower die set
Circle punches for the faces

I-Rock gem tool and gems for the noses

Mini brads
Love Grows stamp (I think it's Stampendous, but not sure)

  7. Thanks so much! I am really loving all of these sweet comments and then being able to go and check out all of your awesome creations as well. I'm really enjoying being a part of this community of artists. Most of my friends do not "get" my hobby at all! I think they would just as soon go by a card as to spend half the day making one! LOL
