Paper Cutz Challenge #69

Hello, all! I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by family and friends. We went to a friend's house this year instead of traveling to visit familly. But when I really think about it, the past six years of living here in Arkansas, I have made special friends that I consider to be part of my family anyway! This week, Mary at Paper Cutz Challenge gave us a great challenge......ANYTHING goes! That's right, folks-anything colors, themes, shapes, whatever you can dream up! You can visit the PCC for some Design Team inspiration, then put together something spectacular and submit it to the challenge.

Here is my submission for this week....I decided that I wanted to make a Christmas tree. I wanted it to be bright and colorful. For the base of my tree, I used a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and cut a circle from George and Basic using the fit to page button. I think it cut the circle at about 10.5 inches. I cut the circle in half and made one of the halves into a cone. You can get two of these from each sheet of cardstock. This makes your tree. Next, I took various pieces of patterned paper and punched them out with my 2 inch scalloped circle punch. I cut these into quarters and adhered them to my tree, placing a ring of each pattern around my tree starting from the bottom. I used glue dots to do this, but any good adhesive will do. For the "garland" around my tree, I took a circle of patterned paper that was about the circumference of the base of my tree. I cut a spiral from this circle and draped it over the tree (I hope this makes sense, if not, let me know). I punched out stars from yellow paper for my tree topper. I decided that I didn't want my tree just sitting on the table, so I painted a small clay pot green and added red polka dots. I put clay inside the pot and inside the top of the tree and inserted a wooden dowel into both pieces of clay to put the tree together. I want to do more of these and possibly use them for place settings this year at Christmas. I can place peoples names on them with vinyl and put a small gift under the tree or candy in the pot. Hmmmmm......
