PK Challenge and a New Use for a Punch

Hello! Well, I'm trying to recover from having the family come for a visit this weekend. My middle kiddo turned twelve on Saturday (sad...) and so my mom and two sisters came to see us. I love when they come, but when they leave, I hate the condition my house always seems to end up in! 8 people can make a rather large mess!! Anyway, I've also been working on a card while doing laundry today. Peachy Keen has a sketch challenge going on and I wanted to enter, but was having a bit of trouble coming up with something creative. I like to try to put a cool spin on the sketch, while still keeping to the design of the sketch. It wasn't until I got a new punch this weekend that this card came together for me. I LOVE punches corner punches, border, punches, shapes, whatever. I'm trying to get better about what I buy, though, because I've come to realize that my budget and craft room size don't really allow for me to buy EVERY punch I see. When it's a punch that's really odd, I try to think if I can come up with other uses for it and if I can't, then I probably don't need it that badly. I found the Martha Stewart "Bunny Ears" punch on clearance at Michael's for $3.99. I started to look at it and try to envision other ways that I could use it.....I noticed that the ears sort of resembled flower petals!! I LOVE making flowers, so in the cart the punch went. Here's the result:

Ok, so to make the flower, punch out four scalloped circles from yellow cardstock. Punch out 8 bunny ears from light pink cardstock and 8 from dark pink cardstock. Apply glue to one side of two of the circles. Place four of the light pink ears onto each circle, spacing them out evenly around the circle (the headband part will form a circle in the yellow circle). Next apply more glue to this circle and then apply the dark pink ears. Take the other two yellow circles and apply glue to one side and place these over the ears. You now have two flowers. You can either keep the two flowers, or you may apply glue to one of the flower centers and stack the other flower on top to make one fuller flower, like I have done. For the rest of my card, I hand drew the face and punched a leaf. I embossed my vase and inked it with white. I embossed my cardfront and inked it with white. I inked the embossed image on the white paper with blue. I pop-dotted the vase, the flower and the leaf. I bent the leaf to look as if the flower were "waving hi". Thanks for looking!
