Insomnia.....and another card!

So, there are a few cardmakers out there that I would say I am a "fan" of. They have a particular style all their own and they never fail to dazzle me with the things they come up with. One of those people is Jeannie Phillips. I first noticed her cards on the Cricut message boards. They were so beautiful, but more than that, Jeannie seemed like such a nice lady! Always a kind word of encouragement for others and genuinely appreciative of the kind words of others. There have been times that I have posted a card and gotten very little feedback. It can be so discouraging to put all of that work into something and think you've done a great job, only to get little or no response. I've always been able to count on Jeannie to say something sweet about my work and I really thank her for that. She has an awesome blog and recently put a gorgeous card on there that she asked us to do our version of and post. Here is her blog:http://http//aplaceformycards.blogspot.com/2010/08/little-miss-sunshine.html

This is my version of her card. I changed it just a little to suit my abilities a little more. I am not so good with the inking yet, although I'm working on it, so I didn't do too much of that. I used the sun from Doodlecharms, added sunflowers from A Walk in My Garden (sunflowers are my favorite!), I used paper roses for my wheelbarrow, Martha Stewart's grass punch, and added a frame that I cut out from Storybook. I added a red mat for the card to tie in the red from the roses and the accents on her dress and to make the card pop a little. Since I didn't do much inking, it seemed to be missing something. I like the addition of the red. I do wish it were a little neater, I can see where I got the frame slightly off when I put it together. Also, the sun has a little tiny bit of glue that shows when the light hits it (you can really tell in the photo). I also think I need to replace the blade on my cutter. But, it's late and I'm getting tired, so all in all, I'm pretty pleased with the result. I only hope that I've done Jeannie's card justice and that she likes my version! Thanks for the inspiration, Jeannie!
