Cricut Cardz Challenge

Well, another day, another card challenge. This was for the Cricut Cardz Challenge blog. The challenge for this week was to make a teen card. I knew that I wanted to do some sort of "Sweet 16" card. It's the first thing that came to my mind. I also knew that I wanted to try to do a shaped card. I've been trying to work more with my Gypsy to get better at using it, so I try to use it every chance I get! I decided to do a car, since that's what a lot of 16 year olds want for their birthday (have you seen that MTV show "My Super Sweet 16???? Ridiculous!! I better not even start that topic....LOL!). Anyway, my daughter is 14 and her dream car since I can remember is a VW convertible bug with daisy tires. She wants either pink or lime green (although that changes periodically). I decided to do red because I had some red metallic cardstock that I thought would be awesome on a car. I did the car from the Paper Doll Cricut cartridge, because it looked very close to the car I wanted. I put it at 5.25 width and flipped it. I went in and hid all of the cuts to make it a solid cut. I copied this and flipped it and matched it up to form the card. I got a rectangle from George and basic and welded it in between the two cards to give it more stability and to keep it from tearing. I cut another car out at 5.25 that had all of the cuts on it from the red cardstock. I cut out the tires, the steering wheel, the seat and the windshield from the red so that the black would show. I cut two circles in black from George and four daisies from Walk in my Garden. I made them to fit perfectly on the tires on the card to look like wheel covers. I glued together two daisies for each wheel. I added a red square brad that I had. I attached this to the tires and pop dotted these to the car. I cut out the number 16 from Gypsy Font at 1.5 high. I ran these through my Xyron upside down and glittered them, then ran them through the other way to attach them to my car. I put red Stickles on the back "brake light" and Diamond Stickles on the front "head light". This was a super simple card, but it was good practice with my Gypsy and think it turned out pretty cute!
