Baby, It's Cold Outside!

So, I was looking at Maureen's blog, Mo's Addiction, and saw that Simon Says Stamp was having a challenge based on song titles. I thought that sounded like so much fun! There were so many cute cards to look at. Maureen did a totally awesome Beetles "Yellow Submarine" card. Someone did one with this song title and I think it had snowflakes on it or something. I could not get this song out of my mind for the rest of the day. Then I started to imagine this card. I had to start on it right then! I got out my Gypsy and got started. I knew I wanted to use the window from Christmas Noel. I love it so much and have been waiting for the chance to use it to make some sort of 3-D card. I cut it at 3.5 inches in brown 6 times. I layered four of those together and then two of them together. I used the blackout and cut it once out of patterned paper for the wallpaper. I took one of the clear sheets that cover your stamps and cut one more from this. I cut out the Christmas tree from the Christmas Noel cart at 2.5, I think and glued it to the patterned paper, positioning it slightly off to the side and trimming the excess off of the edges of the window-shaped paper. I then "trimmed" the tree with my I-Rock gem setter and silver gems. I cut out the couple from the Sweethears cart at 3 from black cardstock and popdotted it to the patterned paper and trimmed off the excess. I adhered the layer of two brown pieces of the window to the top of the patterned paper and I adhered the clear piece to the stack of 4 pieces of brown. I then layered all of this together and set it aside.

Next, I cut out a 4 1/4 inch piece of red cardstock. I used a ruler and a Sharpie to draw the brick pattern onto the paper. I then rubbed my stamp pad across it to give it depth and dimension. I took some shimmery white cardstock and cut out two panels with my Martha Stewart drippy goo punch and layered them together. I also cut out bushes from the Everyday Paper Dolls for under the window (I used my Gypsy on this to make sure that they were the right length). I punched the snowflakes with a punch I got from the Michael's dollar basket of mini punches. I typed the sentiment on my computer and punched it with a Marvy label punch. I layered it to a piece of black and trimmed around it. I cut an A2 sized piece of black cardstock. I topped it with the brick layer, then pop-dotted the icicles onto the top of the "house". Next, I added the window, then the bushes, and the snowflakes. I used "icicle" colored Stickles on my icicles and Liquid Applique and my embossing heat tool on the bushes and window. Lastly, I applied the sentiment. This card was sooooo much fun to do and was a nice reminder of cooler weather! I hope my instructions were easy enough to follow.
