2 Challenges/1 Card

Well, gotta make this one short and sweet. I have a super busy weekend lined up, which won't leave much time for playing in my purple playroom : ( I finally got a Bind-It-All today and I am super-excited to use it! Anyway, I made this cute little card for Paper Cutz Challenge and also for the Pink Stamper Challenge. Paper Cutz was to make something with a skunk, monkey, hedgehog or squirrel, and Pink Stamper was any critter. I decided to do a squirrel because it's not something I would normally do. I also decided to do a fall card and to use neutral colors. This card is totally out of my element. My style is usually more whimsical and bright, so I wasn't even sure if I even liked this card. Now that it's been a couple of days, I think it's pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself. I used fun flock on the squirrels and I think they are soooo adorable! I got a wonderful tutorial on using flock from http://http//craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/

Card recipe:
Cricut Winter Woodlands
Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes
Martha Stewart Hearts Confetti
Spellbinders die
Marvy "word window" punch
Black StazOn
Diamond Glaze
Mini brads for the eyes
Flock-Studio G
The look I was going for on this was two little squirrels in their "love nest" in a tree. I inked cut the acorn out of the cream-colored cardstock that I used for the card and the squirrels' bodies. I inked it with brown StazOn, the swiped my black stamp pad across it, then a white stamp pad. I inked the edges with black. I embossed the top of the acorn with Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" and inked it with black. After I put the card together, I put diamond glaze on the acorn and on the hearts. That is the ONE thing I do not like about this card. There are bubbles in my Diamond Glaze!!! Ugh.... Does anyone have a good tip for avoiding this. I was careful not to shake up the bottle, but I still got bubbles! Hope you like it! Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Great card!! Don't flip your bottle upside down just tilt it slowly to the side. If you still get bubbles, just drag them out w/ a toothpic. You can't pop them you have to drag. Hope that helps. Good luck w/ the challenges. :)
